ASSISTANT HEAD BAKER-PIES & PASTRY

We are currently in search of 1 to 2 experienced Part Time Seasonal Bakers who want to work with quality ingredients and help us grow both our pie & pastry programs. Our team makes an assortment of pies, pastries, muffins, cookies and artisan bread daily.

Skill set and organization are the keys to success in this position and candidates should have schedule flexibility, available for early morning shifts daily; primary schedule will consist of Thursday-Sunday early mornings, and as otherwise necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • perform day to day baker duties and operations in a high volume kitchen environment
  • work quickly and efficiently while paying attention to detail and following recipes
  • work with a sense of urgency, creativity and ability to make decisions

Requirements:

  • at least 2 years baking experience in a commercial kitchen
  • demonstrated enthusiasm for service and teamwork
  • consistent attendance and punctuality
  • ability to focus on tasks and take direction
  • excellent communication and listening skills
  • consistent attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization
  • ability to self direct during slow periods
  • ability to perform physical tasks – lift 50 lbs above waist

Compensation:

  • $10-$14/hr DOE, negotiable; Seasonal Part Time Position
  • Hours begin in Early May

ASSISTANT HEAD BAKER-ARTISAN BREAD

We are currently seeking an Assistant Head Baker who wants to work with quality ingredients and help us grow our artisan bread program, and also assist with pastry, pie, and other bakery production needs as necessary. Our team makes an assortment of pies, pastries, muffins, cookies and artisan bread daily.

Skill set and organization are the keys to success in this position and candidates should have schedule flexibility, available for early morning shifts daily, as well as late day shifts Friday-Saturday; and as otherwise necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Mixing, preparing, and baking both bread and pastries daily
  • Executing existing recipes
  • Working to produce breads based on a weekly production schedule
  • Crafting and creating new & exciting recipes and baked goods
  • Ensuring all production is completed on proper schedule for opening
  • Reporting to the head baker when more supplies may be needed

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years baking in a commercial kitchen; some bread experience preferred; culinary degree preferred, but not necessary
  • Ability to learn and understand bakers measurements and percentages
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations
  • Open Availability; Some 5:00AM shifts are required
  • Ability to focus on tasks and take direction; Desire to learn
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Consistent attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization, and commitment to excellence
  • ability to self direct during slow periods; comfortable working independently
  • ability to perform physical tasks – lift 50 lbs above waist

Compensation:

  • $12-$15/hr DOE, P/T 20-30 hrs/week; seasonal May-December, with potential extension
  • Hours begin in Early May

 

SUMMER FARM INTERNS

We are seeking individuals with a serious interest in permaculture, sustainable farming and living and working in harmony with nature. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, have an open mind, enjoy outdoor physical labor and demonstrate a willingness to help with any  task.

Expect to work a flexible schedule four days a week (including weekends) for a total of 20-25 hours, on average.

General Responsibilities (with training and minimal supervision):

  • Garden operation: sowing, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing, packaging
  • Property management: mowing, weed whacking, pruning, limbing, painting
  • Farmers markets: setting up, marketing/promotions, sales, tracking inventory

Prospective interns must be at least 18 years old and have a genuine interest in farming & sustainability. Hourly wage rate between $9-$12 based on experience; The intern will also receive vegetables, fruit, and bread from the farm. Hours begin in early May and run through August.

PART TIME GENERAL CUSTOMER SERVICE • MULTIPLE POSITIONS •

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional service customer service within the standards of management and Windy Brow policies.
  • Maintain aesthetic guidelines of product while stocking and/or producing. Practice proper cash handling procedures with a smile.
  • Demonstrate effortless teamwork skills as you rely and assist fellow coworkers in providing the Windy Brow experience.
  • Assist with all cleaning duties as stated on opening/closing and weekly checklists. Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Report to work as scheduled and fulfill requirements for duration of shift or until relieved.

  • Good physical stamina and energy. You love being on your feet and can lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to move around the front of the store as you bend down for bags and reach up for supplies.

Compensation:

  • $9+/hr DOE; MUST be available on weekends; Seasonal May-November; Hours begin in May
